Ces images sont les réminiscences de quelques années d’enfance passées au Maroc. Une empreinte marocaine qui m’a laissé la nostalgie d’un paradis perdu, partagée entre l’envie de retrouver ce lieu, et la peur d’abîmer mes souvenirs, je suis finalement retournée à Marrakech. De cette histoire personnelle et de ce retour au Maroc, sont nées ses images couleurs d’un orient éternel. Vécu dans l’enfance, puis rêvé, idéalisé.

J’ai photographié Marrakech comme elle était en moi, une superposition d’images, un mélange d’impressions fugitives mais indélébiles. Délaissant ainsi le réel pour l’invisible et le sensible.

Film 24x36 mm argentique couleur Ektachrome, surimpression sur la pellicule. Impression digitale. Cette série rassemble 75 photographies et 29 reproductions des carnets de voyages.

Images de la médina et des souks, monde foisonnant des ruelles aux allures de labyrinthe, peuplées d’ombres tremblantes ou bondées de passants. Images du ryad, refuge d’harmonie et de beauté, monde imaginaire du bonheur sur tapis d’Eden.
 
Ces photographies "composées" sont réalisées en surimpressions directement sur la pellicule, dans la spontanéité et l’instant, et sans intervention ultérieure. Chaque image se construit au fil des heures, des lieux choisis, et des situations rencontrées, grâce à une, deux, trois ... jusqu’à cinq expositions successives.

These pictures may be considered reminiscences of years of my childhood in Morocco. This Moroccan imprint let inside me the nostalgia of a lost heaven, shared that I was between my wish to return to this country and the fear to spoil my memories. These photographs of the eternal Orient are born from this personnal adventure and my recent travel to Morocco. Pictures, firstly tested in my childhood, then dreamed, idealized for ever.
I have taken photographs of Marrakech as this town was in my memory : a superposition of fugitives but indelible impressions. I have decided to abandon reality for a world of imagination and sensitivity.
Pictures about medina and the souks, wild and turbulent small streets, as labyrinthes full of shivered shadows or people. Or the ones about the ryad, refuge of harmony and beauty, utopic world of happiness on the magic carpet of Eden.
My photographs are made with super-printed pictures, directly on the film, shooted spontaneously and without any ulterior intervention.
Each photograph is a unic one and cannot be reproduced, as its existence is conditional to the places that I have selected, to the time spent, to the situations that I have met.
Some of these photographs have been exhibited at ECART INTERNATIONAL, POLTRONA FRAU and at the Festival of BIOGRAPHY.                                                                  A.V.
